TEDx Dhaka 2014 was held on Saturday, November 22, 2014 at the Krishibid Institution of Bangladesh with the theme “Breaking Barriers” and took the audience in through a journey of life experiences of the speakers. A number of prominent speakers from diverse fields were present during the event and they shared their experiences. The topics discussed during the event dig deep into the local and global issues that matter most. Some of the discussion topics were child labor, physical abuse in the form of acid attacks, mental illness, child mortality, transparency, green efficiency, job satisfaction and social activism, and traditional education.
TED stands for Technology, Entertainment and Design and began as a conference in 1984 in USA where the three fields were merged. Today TED conferences boast of covering all aspects from science to politics in over 100 languages. TEDx events are independently run and help share ideas globally in the respective communities of the TEDx origin.
